You can also send us photos to display on our regional expat pages - look here. We'd love to have a snapshot for the mantelpiece!

Our Founding Barker

A particularly nice self-portrait.

...so please tell us who you are, where you are and how it's all going.  No really, we're interested.  Tell us what you'd like to see on this site and we'll scratch our heads and try to help.

Just fill in this simple form and help yourself to another biscuit.

We are the Barkers and we are happy to honour one of the traditional meanings of that name.  To be a 'Barker' is to be a hawker at an entrance to a show, someone who shouts out the news or the proverbial Town Crier - hence our jolly nice logo.

We have been Expats living abroad, on and off, for approximately 20 of the last 30 years.  Our roots lie deep in Devon, Norfolk and Shropshire....but home to the Barker tribe is now Connecticut, USA where the idea to have BarkerBites reach out to Expats and Britophiles everywhere was born.

We really hope you feel a connection to the site and can become a 'Town Crier' for us - spreading the word in your community (as opposed to being a 'Town Cryer' - nobody likes a whiner). Please help shape what we are with your feedback, comments, requests and banter.

Cheers,

The BarkerBites team.

We want you to feel at home here...but calling you

Mr, Mrs. or Miss 'Expat' is so formal...a bit like having the Vicar's wife around for tea...

The Barkers (CiRCA 1985)

A shy period for the group.

A Young BARKER

A rare photo of a Barker caught

briefly in a 'Bigfoot' moment.

Wondering who we are? Here's a little on how it all started.
